Environmental economics...is really environmental studies...less science and engineering focusing on environmental policy. The EPA usually employ mostly environmental economics majors.....helping the improvement of policy work...students usually in this field go onto law and MBA programs. Just as there is a "sweet spot" in cruising speed that gives the best gas mileage, there is a point of diminishing returns with engine size and power as well. If the engine is low powered enough, it may have to work so much harder to move the mass of the vehicle that it will actually burn more gas than a larger engine that wouldn't have to strain so much.
